Surf. Stay. Play: Bali

What can we say about Bali that hasn’t been said before? Renowned for its Volcanic mountains, lush green country side, friendly locals and year round surf conditions it’s one of our top tropical destinations. Bali is the place for traveling surfers and adventure-seekers alike, here’s a few of our favorites to add to your list next time you visit the Island of the Gods.

With the coastline blessed with 365 days of swell from the Southern Ocean, there is a wave for everyone - longboard, shortboard, no board, with a paddle - whatever, Bali has it.

Peak season runs from April to October when you’ll find barrelling waves hit world class reefs at Uluwatu and Padang Padang. If you can get out on a charter boat like the ROXY team did, there are plenty of peeling gems to be found.

#RUNSUPYOGA and #BaliEcoWeekend kept us pretty busy, but there’s always time between surfs to discover some of the many hidden surprises Bali has to offer.

If you find yourself up at Uluwatu, check out Nalu Bowls at Single Fin, one of our favorite pre or post surf snacks. These fresh acai smoothie bowls with combinations named after famous waves from around the world were the best afternoon pick-me-up.

The path down to Ulu’s famous cave is lined with plenty of charismatic traders selling bright sarongs, woven bracelets and holiday treasures. It will take some serious willpower to walk past these savvy sales people and not stop for a peek.

When you’re not in the water, organise transport and explore the upland beauty of Ubud for a day or two. Surrounded by rainforest, terraced rice paddies and Hindu temples - it’s a place for some serious peace and relaxation. We didn’t make it there this time, but we loved our time in the hills last year.
