Today the swell picked up briefly for Round 2 of the ROXYpro Gold Coast.
With beautiful clean waves reaching 3 to 4ft and and plenty of sunshine, the girls hit the water soon after 11am (local time).
As one of the closest heats of the day, wildcard Bronte Macaulay opened up with a quick start against teammate and 6x World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, with a 5.17 and a 4.33. Steph soon returned with a solid score of 8.17.
With the sets waning and 2 minutes left on the clock, Steph needed an 3.83 to reclaim the lead.
As fans waited nervously for another set to roll in and with 40 seconds remaining, Steph's patience paid off with a perfect wave rolling in, pulling off the win with a final wave score of 7.10.
South African surfer Bianca Buitendag paddled out against tour rookie Tatiana Weston-Webb in heat 5, losing with a 11.07 score to Tatiana’s 15.93.
