It was a 5am start, I picked up Mik who was late (she is lucky I love her), grabbed coffee (a must) and headed to Sydney airport. We landed on the Goldy under a rainbow and made our way to Byron Bay. It was pumping 3-4 ft barrels off the main beach in Bryon, and I have never seen Mikala run so fast with her camera in her hand. She was frothing more than an old lady in a wool shop.

After Mikala took about a million photos we zinc’d up, threw on our new ROXY bikinis and bolted down to the waves. We realised it was pretty heavy once standing on the shore line, but luckily a lovely local lad came over to us and said "ummm girls I think you should paddle out down there". God love this man for his local knowledge, as we were not in Kansas anymore.

By the end of the surf the wave total was Mikala - 2 barrels and one working. Me - one wave and a well BIG smashing! So we headed back to the amazing Quiksilver Apartments, located right on top of the main Quiksilver store in the middle of Byron Bay!

The rest of the weekend consisted of us doing the ‘Byron Routine’ - early surf, breaky, surf, coffee, surf, lunch, shop, snooze, surf, dance. Here were our favourite spots for the ‘Byron Routine’; SURF - We surfed at the pass, which was crazy busy.

We surfed main beach at Byron and made lots of friends and got lots of fun waves. On Sunday we had brilliant surf at Tallows. Mikala and I were having an absolute ball and getting some cracking waves. We didn’t want to get out and surfed till our hair was in one large knot and our arms were about to fall off.

Breaky - Because the Quiksilver apartments have a great little kitchen we stocked up on fresh fruit etc and had a healthy breaky every morning.

Coffee - we found the best iced coffee @ Byron Bay Handimart - seriously DELISH. This little place also does a great selection of sambos at a good price.

Shop – There are two Quiksilver/Roxy stores in Byron, which is wonderful! We had a ball spending our vouchers (HUGE HUG and KISS from us to you ROXY).

There are also so many great unique shops throughout Bryon. Two of our faves were ‘Spell & The Gypsy Collective’ and ‘The Rainbow Shop’. Snooze – Best done on our front balcony of the Quiksilver Apartments, overlooking the beach!

Dance – the Beach Hotel, right across the road from the Quik Apartments...great big dance floor...fun music and a short walk home!

Thank you ROXY for a fab weekend of getting SETFREE by the sea.  Salt water really does heal the soul, make your heart smile and teach you that it is the waves in life that make you strong.
